Q: Thunderbolt drivers / TDM compatability question
I think I know the answer to the following but would like someone more knowledgeable than myself to confirm. THANK YOU in advance for the assistance!
Here is my scenario:
I need to run windows to use Rhino CAD/CAM but I really prefer to run OSx for everything else.
Currently I have an iMac 27" 2013 with boot-camp / Windows 8 installed. I hate having to reboot my computer to switch between doing Photoshop, illustrator, etc with OSx and Rhino with Windows. But I really like to use that nice, big 27" screen for Rhino CAD / CAM.
So my planned solution is to buy a macbook pro (probably a 2013 or later 15") that has at least one thunderbolt port. I will then keep my iMac running in OSx all the time and run bootcamp / windows 10 on my macbook and use the iMac as a second display when I am using Rhino.
My question is while the iMac is running OSx and the macbook is running BC with windows10, can I use a thunderbolt cable and TDM on the imac to make the 27" imac screen a second display for the macbook?
I think the answer is YES because it seems Target Display Mode is something the computer acting as a secondary display (the iMac in this case) runs, not the computer sending the signal (macbook). So all the macbook (running windows) needs to be able to do is send signal through a thunderbolt port which apparently it can in Windows 10.
