Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I see from your post that your iPhone is not being recognized as a CarPlay device when connected to your car. You've already done a good job troubleshooting this issue, but there are a few additional steps I'd like you to go through.
Get help
If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.
- Make sure that Siri is turned on.
- Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
- If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
- Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure the cable is certified.
- Update to the latest version of iOS.
- Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.
Set up CarPlay to use with your iPhone
Take care.

Jan 27, 2016 10:15 AM in response to alex_h1by hsmarchal,I am having the same issue with my brand new Volvo XC90 T8 (got it yesterday), and despite all of below, it still does not work.Only variant is that I have an iphone 5s, but also running 9.2.1.
1. Siri is on
2. Restarted both several times
3. Car only has one usb port
4. I have tried 3 different certified cables
5. 9.2.1 is the latest iOS
6. car left the dealer yesterday with the latest version of Carplay installed: It was delivered from the factory in Sweden only last week.
As previous post, I tried every combination of wifi/bluetooth on/off. I was able to connect my wife's iphone 5c via USB which has not yet been updated to iOS 9.2.1. The dealer did tell me that for some reason it would not connect via bluetooth, which has proven to be true.
Odd, as in my General settings on my phone it shows the Carplay menu option, and it detects my Volvo and asks if I want to pair via USB or bluetooth. Carplay also detects my phone and tries to connect, but then gives message "connection error" after a few seconds of trying to connect (phone even gets blue bar on top of screen showing carplay for a few seconds, like the same blue bar that shows for wifi hotspots, but then fails).
Very frustrating

Jan 27, 2016 7:21 PM in response to alex_h1by Ald835,Hello alex_h1:
The Honda software forCarPlay is up to date. I have tried everything on that list. I have tested it with different iPhones from 5s's - 6s's and every phone that has the recently updated 9.2.1 software,CarPlay isn't recognized. Will there be another update to correct this?
Thank you.

Mar 1, 2016 8:12 PM in response to Ald835by Slickster77,Having same issue with CR'Apple devices.
Let's examine the facts....
IPhone/iPod works completely fine with both my wife's Honda and my Chevrolet before the 9.2.1 update.
Immediately after the update..... wait for it.... Uh.. It STOPS WORKING ON BOTH VEHICLES!
I wonder what could have happened??
I have an idea... It's CR'APPLE's piece of crap update.

Sep 10, 2016 1:56 PM in response to Slickster77by Photog23,I Noticed on macrumors that everyone with "restrictions" should make sure that "carplay" is allowed under restrictions. Worked for me!
