Q: My IMac is starting up and coming to a black screen with thin vertical white lines.

My IMac is starting up with login, then going to gray screen, lighter screen and finally to a black screen with thin white vertical lines.

Thanks for the help

Did you ever get an answer or resolve this?

I just experienced the same thing.  My screen started to flicker and then

just went to this black with thin white lines pattern on it.

When I rebooted it came back up normally for a short while and then did

the same thing.  Over the next 20 minutes or it it would go to that screen

as soon as the boot progress line would quit.

I tried booting from another boot partition, same thing.

I tried to boot with the shift key held down ... thought I am not sure what that

is supposed to do, but it just hung at an all white screen.

I'm assuming this is probably a hardware problem?
