Q: Export to Photo from email (Mail) not working

Recently upgraded to El Capitan on my Late 2009 Mac.

I've worked through most conversion issues from iPhoto to Photo.

One issue i am having is on photos emailed to me, the prompt in Mail to "Export to Photos" doesn't do anything.  I select that yet the photo does not show up in Photo, nor can i find it anywhere else using Finder.

Any ideas on how i can resolve this so i can add emailed photos to Photo?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. All I have been able to do is click on "Save All"  which saves them to your Pictures folder then you have to import them to Photos from that

The "Export to Photos" menu is working for me in El Capitan.  Which version of El Cap do your have?

When I click the attachments icon in Mail and select "Export to Photos", the Photos icon will begin to bounce in the Dock and the added photos will appear at the end of the "All Photos" album, but not in "Last Import".

If the photos will not appear at all, try to ctrl-click the embedded image in the mail, ctrl-click and select "Exort to Photos" there.

Thank you for the reply.  Have tried these suggestions but no photos bouncing in dock and nothing in "All Photos".  I am using El Cap 10.11.2, which I believe is the up to date version

Is your current Photos Library the System Photo Library?

Check the Photos > Preferences > General:  Is "Use as System Photo Library" greyed out to show it is enabled, as it should be?

If not, enable it and restart the Mac.

Where is your Photos Library?  Is it on your system drive or an external drive?

Also, have a look at this support document:

Problem solved.  The "Use as System Photo Library" was enabled so I read the article for which you provided a link, went to System Preferences>Extensions>Share Menu and ticked the box for "Add to Photos"  My Photo icon now bounces up and down in the dock and the photo contained in the email is exported to Photos.

Thank you so much for your help.  Much appreciated

Where are you looking in the Photos library from the imported photos?  They will not show up in the Last Import album.  Look at the bottom of the All Photos window.  That's where you will see them.

My mom's iMac has this strange issue and nothing seems to help. She receives pictures in mail.app and there is a sharing option to add it to photos but when clicked, nothing happens. Photos won't even start up! I'm very comfortable around osx, but this one I can't seem to tackle.

If anybody has a suggestion I'll be glad to hear it!

For some reason importing from Mail does not put the photos in the Last Import album. Have you Mom look in the All Photos window at the bottom for raw photos imported from Mail.

You write "Use as System Photo Library" should be greyed out; then you want it to be enabled (?)

In any case, I can't enable it in OSX 10.10.5 - neither is there a "System Preferences>Extensions>Share Menu"
