Apple WatchWhen you reset the SMC did you remove the plug from the back of the iMac or the wall? For some rason I've had better luck removing the plug from the back of the iMac. Have you run Apple Diagnostics to see if it reports an error? Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support

Apple WatchWhatever you do, don't download anything from Mac Update.com you may get some unadvertised malware or adware.
