Q: Macbook Pro battery warranty related to cycle count

Hello,

The battery of my Macbook Pro started underperforming. I also see the "Service Battery" message in the menu bar. According to cocoanutBattery this is the current state of the battery:

My Macbook's warranty has ended but as far as I understand the information Apple had provided on batteries they guarantee that it will retain 80% of it's original capacity till it reaches it's charge cycle limit. The limit for my laptop is 1000 and from the screen shot you can see it is at 690+ now. In that case they should replace it free of charge right?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

    About battery service

Your Apple One Year Limited Warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. If you purchased AppleCare Protection Plan, you get additional replacement coverage for battery consumption. With AppleCare Protection Plan, we'll replace your Mac notebook battery at no charge if it retains less than 80 percent of its original capacity. If you don’t have coverage, we can replace your battery for a fee.

Mac notebooks purchased after 2009 have built-in batteries and require Apple Authorized battery service.
