Q: Are there separate libraries for each member in the family plan?

We want to start the Apple Music Family Plan in our home, but each member of my family wants to add their own music and keep it separate from the rest of the members of the plan.

I have 2 questions about this:

1. Does each member get their own library of music that they can sort and personalize without interfering with the other members' music?

2. Does each member individually have the 100,000 song limit, or is it 100,000 songs for the whole family?

We won't get the plan until these questions are answered, so anything would be helpful!

    Hi Josie1374,

I understand that you have some questions about Family Sharing in Apple Music. I have some information for you that should be able to help you address those questions. First, you should know that each family member in the Apple Music Family Sharing plan will have their own, individual, Apple Music account:

    An Apple Music membership for
    everyone in your family.

With an Apple Music family membership, up to six people in your family can enjoy unlimited access to Apple Music on their devices. Everyone gets full, individual access to the Apple Music library, expert recommendations, 24/7 worldwide radio with Beats 1, and on-demand radio stations. It’s the whole world of music for the whole family.*

Since that is the case, this information applies to each individual account, which should resolve your second question:

How Apple Music handles your uploaded songs

    • You can have up to 100,000 songs in your music library. Songs you purchased from the iTunes Store don't count against this limit.

Add music from your own collection to your Apple Music library - Apple Support

Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
