Apple MusicSee if you can do this before Safari crashes.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab then click: Remove All Website Data
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, see if you can troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plug-ins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Uninstall one extension at a time then quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow Plug-ins.. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Nov 17, 2015 8:30 AM in response to maryannfosterby mick2001,Same issue since upgrading to El Capitan on a new computer, constant crashes and beach balls, and inability to click on links without a beach ball in far too m any instances. I have no extensions, so the issue is with Apple, not someone else I would think.

Dec 8, 2015 5:31 AM in response to mick2001by JulseyUK,I have had the same problem. Tried lots of suggestions with no success. I decided to update Flashplayer and Silverlight. This seems to have resolved the problem for me.

Jan 27, 2016 2:38 AM in response to lexus2510by borntobewild,That's it! It works for me.
I don't know what kind of consequences I'll have for disabling the "included Safari Suggestions" option, but it has fixed the issue for now.
So thank you very much, lexus2510.
All the best.

Apr 1, 2016 2:59 AM in response to maryannfosterby barcapat,Update: Have now fixed it, using the info on this page If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues - Apple Support and following the info in 'Remove Internet plug-ins and other add-ons'
I'm now on latest OSX 10.11.4 and Safari crashes as soon as I open it.
This was also happening in the previous version OSX 10.11.3 - I was hoping the upgrade to 10.11.4 might fix it, but no change.
