Q: retina iMac  problems with wireless mouse

Since using el capitan my wireless mouse intermittently goes crazy.  When trying to log in it starts filling in the space. Have do a shut down then its ok for a few days.  When logged in to photos and right click on a photo to move to the adjacent  photo the cursor moves on its own to a photo 10 spaces away !   The only thing I can do is shut down yet again. Taken my iMac three times to apple store but not solved. Any ideas?

    Hi Andrewmacara32,

I understand that you're seeing some intermittent erratic behavior from your mouse. If you're using a Magic Mouse with your iMac, the article linked below details a number of things worth checking that can help stabilize input on your Mac.

If your pointer is jumpy when you use a trackpad, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse

    Cheers!

Hi Allen, Thanks for your reply. Have tried the things you suggest but I still have this problem intermittently. This all started after downloading El Capitan.  Before I bought this new Retina iMac I  never had these problems with my older iMac so its a bit of puzzle. May just give up and buy a wired mouse !   There are some other users I found some time ago on this apple site who had identical problems but nobody found a solution.  Love to hear from you if you find out anything more.

    Best  Andrew

    Hi Andrew

    A few suggestions

If you have any USB3 devices connected to your iMac, change their location and cable routing. USB3 is known to cause some erratic behavior to trackpads and mice. Place as far away as possible.

In System Preferences remove the wireless device from being associated with your iMac. Remove the batteries in device for a minute and then re-install. Re"discover" the mouse and see if problem goes away.

Some devices have more than one channel, so try to change channels if this applies.

If using a 3rd party device like Logitech make sure drivers are up to date.

All of the other suggestions as linked also apply of course.

    Hope this helps, Greg

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for your email- I have tried these and the guy at Apple also carried out these suggestions.   The problem still occurs after 6 or 7 days though - the problem is that its so intermittent .  Never had this problem before I downloaded El Capitan and my older iMac has El Capitan  which I use in another studio but has no problems ..   It seems to be the Retina IMAC with the El Capitan ?

    Thanks Andrew
