Q: after installing Safari not working

After installing the update to 10.11.3 when I open safari and try to type in the search bar nothing happens, if i put a url there it will take me to that website, but then i can't type in that bar at all anymore. 

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Disable Safari Suggestions in Safari/Preferences/ Search/ Uncheck Safari Suggestions.
