Jan 27, 2016 1:20 PM in response to PSCraySCby Kappy,Did you try: Printers not behaving? Reset them and start from scratch | MacIssues.
There are hundreds of printers you can use. I don't understand your comment, " I can find none that work with this new operating system. Here's a long list from which to choose: Printer & scanner software available for download for your Mac.
As for your older printers have you checked their manufacturers' web sites for updated drivers? You can also see if there are compatible drivers here: Gutenprint Supported Printers.

Jan 27, 2016 1:23 PM in response to PSCraySCby JimmyCMPIT,call your printer's manufacturer and see if they have a beta driver or another driver that will allow the product to work in 10.11.
OS 10.11 was available to developers for months before it came out so there was time for companies to develop drivers or drop support as they saw fit.
if your printers manufacture no longer develops printer devices for OS 10.11 find a new manufacturer. I downloaded working drivers for a 8 year old Xerox printer this afternoon and they appear to be working in 10.11
OS X compatible HP printers 10.10 and 10.11

Jan 27, 2016 1:22 PM in response to PSCraySCby MrHoffman,Which printers do you already have? (Vendor and specific model)
What's your price range?
What features do you need?
Resetting the print subsystem might help, as was already mentioned.
If you do decide to go with a new purchase, various Brother MFC-series Laser printers work fine with recent OS X. The Wirecutter picked a bottom-end Brother printer as their best choice for a cheap printer, and that printer does work with OS X. The folks I'm dealing with are mostly running MFC multifunction color printers.
All of the really cheap ink and laser printers are basically disposable and most seem to fall off of vendor support quickly, though usually only after you've purchased some really expensive ink cartridges. I gave up on ink jets a while back, due to their high costs and low print quality. The apparently-cheap purchase price was rather expensive, in aggregate.)

Jan 27, 2016 1:25 PM in response to PSCraySCby Acm001,If you have an office running mac's you should have time machine backups of all of them? If you do go back to the previous os x that worked with your printers. Also its not Apple's fault the makers of the printers haven't updated their software to be compatible. You should always verify that the software - programs - printers - etc are compatible before upgrading to any new os. What printers do you have maybe we can find a solution.

Jan 27, 2016 1:32 PM in response to Acm001by PSCraySC,I can't go back to the previous operating system because I purchased a photo program and needed to upgrade. This is all new to me. There are 3 of us who work in my tiny office. I realize it is not Apple's fault, however; I think it is very frustrating when I can't find a new printer to purchase. I would like to purchase an inkjet printer that prints decent photographs. Very low volume. Just one brand or place that I can get a printer to work with my Mac. I have had to use my husbands Surface (whatever it is) and it is frustrating. Just a printer brand. Apple doesn't even show any on it's site, at least didn't see any. They direct you to Canon and Epson (these are the two I like) but once you get there nothing works.

Jan 27, 2016 1:41 PM in response to PSCraySCby PSCraySC,Just forget it! I think I am seriously so upset that I can't even think straight! I have never, never had this problem with my Mac updates in the past. I seriously am crying. This is hurting my business. I do not agree with you. Apple should not have an operating system out that there are NO printers available. I really think that Apple has gotten too big to care about the consumer.

Jan 27, 2016 1:46 PM in response to PSCraySCby Kappy,Apple does not make printer drivers. They merely distribute what is sent to them from the printer manufacturers. This is not an Apple issue nor responsibility.
I see no benefit from your attitude such as it is. Many have tried to offer you help, and you discount it all by claiming you are to upset to take the advice given to you. You are the one hurting your business because you are too concerned about yourself instead of your business.
