Q: Possible solution to address bar problem: disable Safari Suggestions

For everybody experiencing problems with the address bar: disabling the Safari Suggestions in Preferences -> Search and restarting Safari has solved it for me. Maybe there's a problem with the servers providing the information for the Safari Suggestions right now or something like that.

Thanks Chainzz for your prompt response. That'll do me. It still gives me the dropdown suggestions. Appreciated.

I had precisely the same problem. Not only that, I couldn't even click "Reply" in Safari to respond to you. I had to switch to Google Chrome.

This must be a coincidence since a report just came out saying that Safari was the best browser on the Mac. Right after that report, a new version comes out and forces everyone to use Chrome in order to browse the web.

    Sheesh

Thanks Andrew, seems ok without the Safari suggestions. A bit reluctant to load Google. When I did a search for this nothing came up. Hope Apple are dealing.

    Much appreciated

    Two more comments:

1     As I said, the solution worked for me but I found I was later able to re check the "include safari suggestions" box and the problem didn't reappear!

2     I see some safari users felt they had to switch to explorer or other browsers to search for Chainzz's solution. I found I was able to search by logging out of my profile and logging back in as a Guest User. Safari search worked fine for me there. Weird. I am using a Macbook pro and OSX El Capitan

Agreed BOBESOX. Once I cleared out the Suggest settings, the display was cleared up as well.

I have Chrome already loaded (I do Development so need everything available) - but is annoying when a new update comes out with this problem and this is the default setting for Safari. So who the heck was testing this?

Maybe I need to get onto the Dev betas because that shouldn't happen with a release.

Yes - Patrick, I know it does fix it - but the point is that this is such an obvious test, it shouldn't have occurred. (and believe me, I've made my share of "obvious bugs" )
