I can confirm that the 9.3 beta does **not fix the problem. (at least it doesn't fix my problem)

    Issues:

    1. When phone paired- driving listening to XM Radio someone calls. Talk for a minute handsfree (which works fine) then when I hang up the phone just starts playing whatever media was last playing on my phone via bluetooth audio stream. Does NOT switch back to XM after I hang up. (This used to work fine)

    2. When phone paired- opening an application like Facebook it switches the audio from Radio to Bluetooth/Iphone stream

Are you sure you downloaded IOS 9.3 Beta-2? I  know iOS 9.3 beta-1 didn't fix it.

apple obviously switched to a very new protocol that most devices do not use yet. so the new behaviour is not a bug, it's a feature.

i am not an expert on this. but handsfree profile seems to have changed from HFP 1.5 to 1.6.

    1.5 - as of september 2015:

    https://www.apple.com/business/docs/iOS_Security_Guide.pdf (page 29)

1.6 - list of recent protocols:

iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support

so, if our devices cannot speak 1.6, this might be the problem.

if we want to get our devices back to working with apple, they need a firmware update to enable HFP 1.6. if we cannot get one, we are lost.

FYI the Beta 2 did fix ONE of the problems. When I hang the call up the XM radio takes back over. The other problem however where I am listening to the radio and open an application for the 1st time such as Facebook the audio in the car switches to the phone.

The problem they did fix was the one that drove me crazy I don't use apps much while driving

    Hi there,

    here is my "story":

I have a BMW F11 and with my IP4S and iOS 9.0.1/ 9.0.2 all was fine. But since IP6S with iOS 9.1 no normal bluetooth connection was possible. Once after seconds the connection is lost and only a reboot of the  IP6S helps. In an other case the connection produces noise like scratching records.

Then Update to the latest version of iOS 9.1:

First the conntection is lost after 3 - 5 minutes after start of the BMW 520d. The iphone 6S needs up to 2 min to start the next connection. After 2 seconds this next connection is lost. Now after 1 minute comes the next connection. Once again after 2 seconds this new connection ends but now with a high frequent noise and switches the BMW professional radio into radio mode. Switch back to external devices connection via bluetooth the last and now stable connection will be created. This lasts for the rest of the drive.

Then I heard of a solution of an other guy. This helped me through December 2015.

Here is it, maybe one of you can help it too:

Go under settings/general/"useaid" (Sorry, I do not know the english menu item cause I have a german menu item called "Bedienungshilfen", sorry)/ "audiocall output" (german menu item called Anrufaudioausgabe) ... change that menu item from automatic to Bluetooth-Headset ... and then have fun.

This worked as I said nearly one month, but then the problem returned and there has been made no update neither on the iphone nor on the BMW. Then I updated to iOS 9.2 => no fix. Now BMW flashed the whole software on the BMW, nothing. Now I am back again reading the Blogs and the tricks made by you fellow friends. And I decided to create an account for public beta testing. And actually I am installing 9.3 beta 2.

How it works ? I will keep you informed.

I was so frustrated with all this I signed up for the beta, so now I'm using 9.3 beta 2.

    Original issue:

When updating from 9.1 to 9.2 on an iphone 6,, my 2016 Chevy car and 2015 Chevy truck intellilink system after a phone call or HFP prompt it would switch to bluetooth music on the phone no matter what mode it was in before.  Since I dont have navigation in the truck I used the SIRI and Apple maps with the HFP prompts daily, it was no longer useable after the 9.2 update, like a phone call after every HFP prompt it would always start playing bluetooth music on the phone.  I went back to 9.1 when it was still signed and everything was just fine.  I also did a clean install of 9.2 and re-paired the phone several times.

Made the mistake of trying the 9.2.1 update, that didnt fix anything and of course 9.1 was no longer signed so I was forced to keep 9.2.1.

Shutting off SIRI did fix the phone call going to iphone music after a call and did fix HFP prompts on the 2015 truck, it did not fix the 2016 car though.

Installed the 9.3 beta 2 yesterday and here is what I found so far:

2015 Chevy truck all seems to be working now, even with SIRI enabled.  But oddly now Google maps, only when using the voice input, will switch to streaming music on the phone instead of back to the previous mode.  But the HFP prompts in both Apple and Google maps both work properly - returning to the last played mode.

2016 Chevy car (with carplay), phone calls go back to last mode properly, but the HFP prompt on Apple maps is grayed out and after a bluetooth map direction it starts playing music off the iphone.  Google maps using the voice input works, after speaking voice directions it returns to the last mode and HFP prompts work too.  Once the iphone is activated in carplay though it looses even the grayed out HFP prompt button in Apple maps - even when disconnected from carplay.  Apple maps works fine in carplay, SIRI works again and Google maps works fine with the phone unplugged from Carplay.

So in the end, 9.3 beta 2 ALMOST fixes everything for me and I dont have to lose SIRI, I can live with the way it is now.  Lets see what happens the next couple updates

    UPdate:

YEsterday I installed 9.3 beta 2 altough yesterday a beta 3 was officially announced.

For me no change. The same problem I ever had since 9.1. I am so worry about that whole ****.

THe only chance I see is to write as much mail to apple regarding ever same problem to work on as I can.

if we would all do that, I think that amount of mail traffic enforces the apple support to keep an eye of.

Will you all support our intention to force apple to clean up this issue ?

THen help me and write all to apple.

I am sure that we all will apple show the way to the next failurefree os.

i have turned off wifi and siri and still have the same issue with the radio not returning to the original music after hanging up.  It seems that the only time it will work is if I "forget the device" and re-pair.  Ridiculous that you should have to do that every time you use it in your vehicle.  Apple hangs up on chats once I tell them the issue.  I certainly hope they have a fix soon.

I originally started this post. I bought a new 2015 GMC Sierra and it works flawlessly again. I'm sure the issue has to do with Bluetooth protocols not supported by certain audio systems. That is probably why Apple hasn't felt the need to fix it and probably never will.

I have a 2015 Tahoe and it worked flawlessly before the upgrade.  I've been to the dealer and they said it's an Apple issue.  They asked what type of phone and version IOS I had.  They already had the diagnosis written up before I told them I had an Iphone 6.

Thank you Joey, this was the only thing that has allowed my iphone 5 to pair with my Kia 2011 sportage t-gdi in two years, I had just about given up.  It paired with every other device and the Kia paired with every other phone.  I could hug you mate. cheers
