Q: iPhone 6S Rose Gold Easily Scratched?

Hi,

I'm using an iPhone 6S Rose Gold and noticed a lot of tiny scratches on the side when there is a casing around the 4 sides. Thankfully, the screen has no issues with scratching but the sides are bothering me. I see one part of the side, the paint peeling off? I don't understand how it can still get scratches when it is fully covered.

Does anyone have why is this happening? How do I prevent it? How do I fix it?

All my gadgets are from Apple and it'll be a great pity if my iPhone 6S is easily scratched even WITH protection. Please help!

Hi, It may be casing around your phone is scratching your iPhone. It also happened to me in some other models. Some cases scratches the phone. You may use a premium brand soft silicon case.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6s Plus Rose Gold. There are a lot of black tiny scratches at the lower right back part of the phone just a day after purchasing the phone. I'm very careful with my phone. i went to an apple store and they told me that maybe it's just dirt but it's clearly not the case. Apple wouldn't do something about this?

The only way you're going to know is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and take it in to show them. We're just users here and can't speak for Apple. But the general rule is that user damage is not covered by the warranty. Unless they determine that the scratches are a manufacturing defect, it's user damage.

Finally!! Found people with the same problem. I have been doing so for months now. My iPhone 6S Plus Rose Gold also has black marks around the edges, almost like paint is peeling off. I thought it was only dirt as well, until almost all edges of my phone were filled with these marks.

I am VERY careful with my device and it's impossible for it to be caused by my negligence. I also have been noticing it about a few days from when I bought the phone and it has since spread out to almost all edges of my phone. I'm very disappointed. I have always made sure my gadgets dont get scratches, but thanks to Apple you dont need to do anything to get scratches all over your phone.

Same thing here! Have you tried going to istore and complain about the issue? I had my iphone 6s rose gold for a month now and it seems like scratches are everywhere! Even though it is fully protected by an expensive tpu/silicon case  and a back protector since day one. It is so bizarre!

Experienced the same thing. It looks like that the aluminium was coated in pink paint and it's peeling off. There are black sorta kind of scratches that appears everywhere. It's like a dirt and I tried everything to wipe it off but it's still there. My phone is protected with a case since day 1. It's annoying.

I'm having a similar problem. Got my iPhone 6s rose gold just over a month ago. I have a massive scratch on the top. Not been dropped just normal use! Took to Genius Bar they said the can't help but suggest I use a apple approved case!

tthe manager did say the outer is made of light aluminium and therefore is a softer metal!

however this is not good I had my iphone 5 for 2 years and it still looks brand new!! Disappointed

So much for the manager. From the Apple website:

"iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus take everything that made the previous generation great, and advance it to a new level. They’re made with 7000 Series aluminium, the strongest alloy we’ve ever used in an iPhone. They both feature Retina HD displays made from the strongest cover glass used on any smartphone in the world. And now they’re available in an elegant new rose gold finish."

    And from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium_alloy

"7000 series are alloyed with zinc, and can be precipitation hardened to the highest strengths of any aluminium alloy (tensile strength up to 700 MPa for the 7068 alloy)."

I'm in Manila so it's pretty impossible to get anything out of Apple here, but I'm crossing my fingers that Apple will finally notice this error and offer swaps for free! My sister has the grey one, brother has the gold one and my brother in law too, none of them have this issue -- seems the rose gold (supposedly, the special one) is the only faulty one. So much for me wanting the best from Apple.

I am having the same problem with IPhone 6s Rose Gold which is now 2wks old. It has many tiny black marks around the white edges, lightning port and headphone jack. Have you tried complaining it to Apple? This is very disapponting, I never dropped my phone and it has a case.
