Q: magnetic charging dock not charging in nightstand mode

I just bought the magnetic charging dock and it charges fine flat, but will not charge in nightstand mode. the regular charger it came with works fine either way. I am in the newest version software.

    If it works fine when it's flat, that would indicate that the charger works. You may need to adjust your placement of the watch a bit. The third party dock I use is a little finicky about making sure the watch is placed just so.

    Hi

     

    Check that:

     

    • All plastic wrapping has been removed from the charging dock (check closely).
    • The back of your watch and the concave head of the charging cable are clean and dry (clean them with a nonabrasive lint-free cloth and retry).
    • The charger is directly aligned with the back of the watch and touching it fully.
    • The watch is docked horizontally at 90 degrees to the base of the dock (ie upright on its side), with the buttons facing upwards.
    • If plugging into mains power, you are using a genuine Apple USB Power Adapter. Besides the adapter that is supplied with the watch, the cable can also be used with the Apple 5W (iPhone) or 12W (iPad) USB Power Adapter - test with these if you have them.
    • If charging via USB, ensure that you use a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, the computer remains on and awake and the cable is plugged directly into the computer (not into, for example, an external keyboard).

     

    If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch, Magnetic Charging Dock and/or power accessories checked under warranty:

    thnx! yea, it was the placement. I have a protector around the watch so it was interfering with a good connection.  thnx  :-)

    I hadn't realized the dock had been released. It looks very nice. You may have tempted me into spending more money!

    you have to change it in the batch-app. nightstand.
