Q: problem with apple id server

Whenever I try to enter my password for icloud or itunes i get a message "There was an error while connecting to the Apple ID server.  This only happens on my MAC.  My iphone is fine.  Any ideas ?

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

    If your Mac is unable to connect to either iCloud or the iTunes Store, then there might be some 3rd party software or network configuration that's blocking the connection.  For assistance with this issue I'd like you to please follow through the information below:

     

    If you can't connect to the iTunes Store on your computer, a software conflict or your Internet service provider (ISP) might be blocking your access. The steps below might help you fix the issue.

    Mac

    If there's still an issue after you try the steps above, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are turned on for your network.

    If you can’t connect to the iTunes Store

    Thank you for your help.  Turns out you were correct.  3rd party software was the problem.  It was Kaspersky internet security.
