Q: iMovie 11 import issues!!!

When importing from my iPhone 6 to a HD connected per USB to my to my MacBookPro via Import, then selecting "iPhone",

- the windows that shows the movies to import only shows black boxes for the videos

- when I start the import, it takes a while (0-approx 20 sec, I tried more than many times), imovie crashes or hangs.

- mostly, nothing is done. However, sometimes, the movie is marked as "imported" with the infamous "select reimport" explanation for the menu point that does not exist.

 

How can I get iMovie working again?

I already tried to

- reboot

- delete the cache files

- erase iMovie and reinstall it from scratch

- import to a newly created, "virgin" iMovie library

with no success.
