Jan 28, 2016 11:33 PM in response to StottMby Pmintz25,★HelpfulImage Capture works much better than any software you can get from the manufacturer. It's silly I know.
It's self explanatory once you open Image Capture with the scanner connected.

Jan 28, 2016 11:30 PM in response to Eric Rootby StottM,Thanks for your feedback, Eric.
I tried Image Capture but the MP600 doesn't show up in the list, it's blank.
Regarding VueScan, according to their list of supported printers/scanners this should work however I object to paying for such a service, Canon should be taking care of this! My printer /scanner is almost 10 years old, I'd rather invest in a new unit and worry again in ten year's time....but that's just me. I was hoping for a free and easy, Canon supported option!
I tried the SANE options the night before and this didn't work either.

Jan 29, 2016 9:59 AM in response to StottMby Pmintz25,Try the Preview app then.
According to Apple's printer software list, the Canon MP600 series is no longer supported by Canon, meaning they no longer update the software for Mac.
I don't see anything with the word PIXMA in their list either.
This is what I get from Canon's website

Jan 29, 2016 9:04 PM in response to Eric Rootby StottM,Thanks Eric. Tried GIMP before posting this request and that only allowed printer functions not scanning functions. HPIJS doesn't support MP600 and I'd rather spend money on a new printer instead of on driver workarounds. (sorry to the software designers.)
I'll go a research suitable printers now...... thanks again.

Jan 29, 2016 9:16 PM in response to Pmintz25by StottM,Thanks again Pmintz25. The "Import from Scanner" option is greyed out. Can print well enough but not recognising the scanner.....
Will now go researching a new printer / scanner for home now. Can't believe how cheap printers are now so a small outlay for a decent printer or maybe just s stand alone scanner will be okay.
Thanks again for your help and support!
