Q: iMovie and Sony DSR-20

I have a Sony DSR-20 DV deck and I want to import a bunch of old videos I made.  I can't seem to get iMovie to recognize the DV deck and I have been unable to find anything to help me out.  I'm using a dv to firewire port to do it.  Is this deck too archaic for iMovie?  Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

    Hi mirgrepaer,

I understand the desire to get old DV tapes into iMovie. Seems we need to get old media into new media before it's too late.

I don't see the Sony DSR-20 DV on the supported camera list for iMovie.

However, please step through this article for things to try.  As the deck has i.link output, which is another name for Firewire, you may be able to import them.  Please read through the whole article.

DV and HDV cameras with FireWire connections that aren't on the qualified device list might still work. Results vary depending on the device. Consult with the camera's manufacturer for additional compatibility information.
