Q: iOS 9.2 iCloud backup still not fixed!!!

So I've been plagued with the Backup could not be completed problem and I've been waiting for Apple to release a fix and I was happy to see this problem mentioned as one of the bugs dealt with in iOS 9.2, BUT it was not actually fixed!

Now my phone is not backed up at all after all Apple geniuses advised that I delete older backups from iCould and try again, my MacBook storage is too small to carry my 128gb iPhone backup and now if my phone dies for some reason all my life is gone with it, well most of it!

Tried backing up my iPhone to external storage but Apple won't let you do that cause we are freaking slaves and not free to do what we want, so now I hope they would finally listen and address this issue that has been mentioned many times before!!!!

I got the "Back Up...Estimating time remaining" for a long time yesterday and it looked like a back up was going to work (although at one point it suggested 2 days?!) but as of this morning I still don't have a back up and it is back to saying "the last backup could not be completed".

I will try this evening on my home network again, my internet at home is fast though so I'm a bit confused by the back up time - therefore, I can't quite tell if the problem has been fixed for me or not?!

I spoke to Apple yesterday and they still haven't found a fix for all users.  Apparently they're hoping it will be resolved in the next couple of weeks and I was told to call back in 1 - 2 weeks. I'm not sure if this means there will be a fix that users can do or if there will be an update prior to iOS 9.3 coming out in March time.

It took a couple of days, but automatic backups were made on both of my devices. If I had to guess, I'd say that as aggravating as this problem was, especially for people who pay for additional storage, it affected only a small number of people....hundreds or thousands.

I still cannot perform an automatic or manual iCloud backup.  I have iCloud backup enabled and always have, but I constantly get the above error notice.  I cannot do a manual backup at all -- it returns "The last backup could not be completed" and "Last backup: Never" errors.  I have always been able to enable iCloud Backup, but I cannot make a backup via manual or the automatic methods for 15 WEEKS!

    Please advise any suggestions!

Same.  According to both of my devices, one hasn't been backed up since October and the other hasn't been backed up ever!

Same here. 4 ios devices, but only one will not actually back up. Can't figure out what makes it so different from the others.

I've gotten mine to back up a few times since this one, but it never happens just as it should when locked and usually takes anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour and several tries. No luck getting it to consistently back up through iTunes either. Apple really needs to fix this. 6 Plus.

Unfortunately the problem has not been resolved for me. I still can't back up.

Since I said that, I've been unable to back up via iCloud or iTunes. I tried deleting the back up as some have recommended and now I have no iCloud back up at all, so here we are. I'm getting tired of this, as it was finicky for me at the beginning of iOS 9 and has now gotten worse with each update. There's no way Apple should be convenientlly "ignoring" this. There are people out there who, if they were to lose their phone tomorrow, might have quite a problem on their hands and it needs a resolution quickly.

The only way I could get it to work, was to delete my iPhone's iCloud backup from my iPad and now I'm able to do a full backup from my iPhone again.

I did not have iCloud back up problems on 9.2.  I upgraded to iOS 9.2.1 on my iPhone6 Plus shortly after it was offered (late Dec 2015). I was also having problems with battery drain and screen unresponsiveness.  Since that time (5 weeks), it has not performed an iCloud back up automatically. (Separately I was having problems with iTunes) so I removed and re-installed iTunes, backed up my iPhone6 Plus, and then restored the settings to the phone (does not restore content). Since then, the iPhone6 Plus will manually back up to iTunes when prompted to on the phone, but it still will not do so automatically. I have expanded iPhone6 plus storage space on iCloud so space is not the problem.  It appears from other comments here that most of the full restores have been unsuccessful so I'll continue to monitor this threat for a fix from Apple and manually perform the iCloud back up.

I made the experience when I am on my home WIFI (1Mbit upload), I get the "Last backup couldn't be completed" error. However, when I am at work (60Mbit upload) it completes the backup.

Maybe this works for some other people as well.

I tried a manual iCloud backup again today, this marks over 90 days of failures.  I get a weekly notification now that my iPhone failed to complete an automatic backup for X weeks in a row.  I have tried on many different wifi connections and at many times of day.  There is no setting in my phone that can fix this.

Have you tried a really REALLY powerful upload connection? Even at a friends place (he has 5Mbit upload) I couldn't complete the backup.

Take not that the upload needs to be strong, not the download (but usually is anyway with such connections)?
