Q: Apple TV not displaying iMac (late 2012) Mirror Screen

Problem: After extensive research in both these forums and youtube I have yet to resolve my issue when mirroring my iMac to my Apple TV via Airplay - the screen stays black when 'connected'.

Current set-up:

iMac 27inch Yosemite 10.10.3 (Late 2012)
Apple TV (Gen 3 Rev A)

Current Situation:

I have both my iMac and my Apple TV on the same network at home within 5 feet of each other (no room for wireless disturbance). I can access Airplay from both the systems preference > displays window and top bar menu, but I notice my AirPlay dropdown menu is missing the "Match Desktop Size" feature.

With Extend Desktop automatically checked off - all my HD Projector displays is a black screen until I hit the Menu button on the Apple TV remote to exit.

What is really the issue here?

I will try to see if my firmware for my router maybe the issue - but I highly doubt it.

Interesting Note: I can connect my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini seamlessly.

Same problem. Seems like lately Apple features work for about a year before you have to buy completely new Apple products. This should be working and/or Apple should be offering a solution.

I got this problem today, immediately after installing (and briefly enjoying) Duet Display. If anyone else has the same problem, check that you don't have Duet Display or similar installed. I have a feeling that I'll need to uninstall Duet Display and hope it helps. For reference: http://help.duetdisplay.com/faq/124754-duet-is-installed-and-airplay-isn-t-worki ng-with-my-apple-tv

Finally a solutionn !!!!!!!!!!!

Yes 100% this is an iMac(2012/13 model) issue with Duet, do a full uninstall of duet and this should fix the issue !

Actually just do this

Applications>Utilites>Uninstall Air Display

Let your computer restart and that should be it. Im not sure what caused the problem but this sure fixes it.

I had same issue. I also had duet installed. I uninstalled duet, which requires a reboot...all is right in the world now.
