Q: Unwanted Keyboard Latency

I'm using Logic Pro X on a Mac Mini. Seems to work fine except with my input device.

I'm attempting to use an Akai Advance 61 keyboard.

The Problem:

I'm experiencing an annoying  delay (latency) between keypress

and actual sound output.  I've tried adjusting the latency options to no avail.

It is nearly impossible to record with this problem!

    OK...

I ran out of replies on reply thread so I moved to replying on the main thread.

I used the Tilde as advised and found and removed the appropriate file.

I'm still having the latency problem.  The Garageband test also gave me the same problems.

Since, for all appearances, Garageband is just a majorly dumbed down version of Logic, is that

    test really that valid?

    Hello

I'm only using Logic's preset instruments...

I had several trial versions of Akai software, but they are no longer operational.

Since I'm limited in funds, I haven't actually purchased them.  So, when ever I startup

Logic, I have to cancel each item during the scanning for instruments phase of startup.

I'm set to 64, with a resulting latency of 4.1ms.

But actual results seem to vary...   LOL

Since I tried the Garage Band test, I went back to Logic Pro X.  Strangely, Logic Pro X screens no look like Garageband screens.

Also, the Preferences / Audio list is much shorter and does not include the slide bar latency adjustment.

    I think I'm going nuts!

Go into Logic's Preferences and enable ALL of the advanced tools that will get rid of Garageband Logic.

Create a New User, reboot the machine and log in as the New User see if the latency remains.

Start a new project blank project and create 2 or 3 instrument tracks, load a single EXS2 instrument, not a preset channel strip... latency?

    +1 on Pancenter's ideas..

The reason Logic now looks like GB is that you deleted to prefs and so Logic reverted back to the simplified GB mode... As Pan said, turn on all the Advanced Tools for get all of Logic's features back again...

...and yes, running etracheck under the original User account will help as I believe you have something else installed that is affecting the performance of your Advance as it happens in both Logic and GB....

Im betting on an audio router or something along those lines running in the background... but there are a few other possibilities too....
