Q: Calendar won't bounce or open today. Any fix for it? The rest of the dock apps are fine.

The Calendar icon on the dock tried to open when clicked but only bounced a few times and then stopped and wouldn't open. Now it won't even bounce when clicked.  It appears to be "on" with a white dot in front of the dock icon but Calendar also won't show in the top tool bar next to the Apple icon top right.  I'm using Mountain Lion still on a MacAir 10.8.5. My iPhone is current and opens Calendar up normally. The only odd thing that happened before it stopped working was wifi router needed to be reset by my service provider a couple of times today. In an effort to investigate the problem I went to System Preferences/ iCloud/opened my account?/ but couldn't affect the Calendar. Or don't know how.

Is there a way to get it working again?

Thanks!

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), all fonts not affected by Command +

Have you tried opening the program from the Applications folder? The Dock icon may be corrupt.

    Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

    Quit the application.

In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.

If you want to make your user library permanently visible, run the below command in Applications/Utilities/Terminal.

    chflags nohidden ~/Library/

You will need to do that after any updates.
