Q: Is it typical to have a much longer time connecting NETWORK btw Mac and PC?

I have always used my old desktop PC as a prime computer at home.  I also used a laptop PC, which almost always was networking with the desktop right away.  Then, I bought a MacBook.  At first, I thought that something was wrong with it.  It was searching wi-fi forever that I had problems setting it up even for the first time use.  So wi-fi was OK.  However, there was no network shown.

Then, after few days of using it briefly, the network was connected after 10 minutes being on.

I thought the problem of not having the network was gone, happily.   The next day I turned it on, still, there was no sign of connecting the network.

It was not connected until a few days after that, and it took 30 minutes to get networked.

Then, a few times after that, I figured out, in order to have a network, that I have to make my MacBook stay on for at least 20-30 minutes.

Is it typical to have a much longer time connectingNETWORK btw Mac and PC (I don't mean wi-fi connection, but just the NETWORK part)?

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
