Jan 31, 2016 4:02 PM in response to Acm001by CBS74,I've clicked on upgrade to os x el capitan, download the software and install. On the first boot, it showed a folder with question mark and since them I've tried to boot on safe mode, create an external hard drive with os x system, and run the command + R to recover. every time I could not find a drive to install or recover the system, even with the disk utility

Jan 31, 2016 4:48 PM in response to CBS74by Acm001,Unfortunately even solid state drives fail. Only way to be 100% sure is to have the air diagnosed at an apple store or service center. They have proper software to do so. Sorry it isn't something we could solve. Best of luck.

Jan 31, 2016 6:00 PM in response to CBS74by babowa,Interesting - thanks. I wonder how you could be running Snow Leopard on it if it is a mid 2012? They came with Lion (10.7.x).

Feb 2, 2016 3:10 AM in response to babowaby CBS74,Babowa, you are correct, I've found the system recovery CDs and it was the Lion. I've left yesterday the macbook on a service provider for analysis. tks a lot for all your help.
