Q: Hi, I've just upgraded to el capitan from snow leopard on a mac book air and he can not find my internal hard drive. I've tried command   R and I could not find the drive to re install the system. Please, help!

I've did through the App store..

I've clicked on upgrade to os x el capitan, download the software and install. On the first boot, it showed a folder with question mark and since them I've tried to boot on safe mode, create an external hard drive with os x system, and run the command + R to recover. every time I could not find a drive to install or recover the system, even with the disk utility

yes, no available hard drives

even though is a solid state drive, I've never see something like this..

it's a macbook air 13" mid 2012.

Babowa, you are correct, I've found the system recovery CDs and it was the Lion. I've left yesterday the macbook on a service provider for analysis. tks a lot for all your help.
