Q: Airport WPS Button

You know, I did get it to work, and we now stream favorite radio stations daily. Tthe customer support line for the A4 ate up phone minutes and never was available.  So...I took the instructions to the Apple Store, along with my laptop, Iphone, Airport Extreme [to see if it was too old to do this] and the darned speaker itself.  Despite no reservation, some of the wonderful staff groaned over the instructions with me, and eventually got method C [I think] to work instore using the Apple store network. When I went home I was able to replicate the set up by bringing my A4, and laptop right in front of the Airport Extreme so the WIFI  didn't have any excuses not to work. The next discovery was that I can use the A4 successfully in another room even though the 3 buttons to the left never do set up properly -- they turn blue, but one keeps blinking all the time the speaker is in use.

It was an adequate solution for us in our very small rental.  In a larger house, I suspect a $99 airport extreme might have been necessary to set up another "wireless hotspot", or whatever the jargon is.

I just followed the instructions from Joconor and Dcione and successfully set p a Pioneer A4 Airplay speaker in 2 minutes flat. It's a bit strange to select "add WPS printer" -- WPS device would've been better -- but it works flawlessly nonetheless.

Open up Airport Utility. Select your Airport access point. Then go up to the menu bar and select "Base Station" and "Add WPS Printer".  Then pretty much follow your nose.  I had my printer set up in less than 3 minutes.

Minds like Timmons do not recalculate their position when provided new information. The reasons are varied but aren’t primary for my point. A more ‘valuable’ mind increases is capital by aquiring and incoporating new information.

Thank you, I've been beating my head against the horrible Canon support website.  This solved my problem with the displayless MG3270.

Just connected an Airport Express to a Canon 4880, simple, click on the router pic in the utility, click on base station, add WPS Printer, found it in a few seconds.  The hardest part was figuring out I had to click on the router pic to get the commands out of the "grey mode" and active.

This was very confusing for me as well. There is no WPS button on the airport. Most of the tutorials and suggestions say "Go to the airport - and look under 'Base Station'."  If you are like me, you assumed it was in the actual little airport utility window... and not in the OS menu bar. Then I opened my trusty old version of airport utility... and no deal there either. - so like @Dcione said... look for the options up at the top - and the limited new airport software is fine in this case. BUT - you have to select the specific airport from the list, (if you have more than one) FIRST... of the options will be gray. I love apple... but this is some pretty ridiculous UI. 50min to set up a 'one-button' wireless printer with over 3 grand of top of the line Apple gear.

THEN --- don't forget to go into system preferences > printers > and remove your previous attempts ... and add it again as bonjour or airprint or whatever they call it this month.

Apple is as stupid as a goat regarding usability.  This is a typical case of not catering to users. Why should so many people have to rely on google to fix apple software bungling?

I think there still many knuckle heads from the Maps fiasco who are still screwing around.

Frankly I love apple hardware, but I install as many third party apps as I can, starting with Google Maps

Thank you so much.  I changed the name on my wifi and promptly lost my printer.  Last time I set it up I used a ton of directions.  Following your advice took about two minutes and I am back up printing again.  Many thanks - you are on the top of my Christmas card list.

1. Open Air Port Utility

2. Click on the Airport Extreme station pictured

3. Click on edit

4. Enter password for wifi

5. Click on Base Station from the bar at the top of the desktop

6. Click add WPS Printer

7. On printer: select PIN from the Wifi Protected Setup

8. Enter pin on computer

9. Wait.

10. Connected successfully!

This thread helped me to a point, but I still can't connect to my Canon MX870 wirelessly. Using the info in this thread I successfully added the printer using WPS, at least I think I did. Everything seemed to work, Airport Utility reported that it connected and I see the printer under "Wireless Clients." I then Save and then click Update, but now where to I find the printer? It still does not show up when I try to add a printer in System Preferences. If someone can tell me where I should now see the printer, I might be able to get it to print.

I would recommend that you don't use the WPS option, but use the "manual" wireless setup as described on pages 29-32 in the printer's Getting Started guide. Your AirPort's wireless network name is the "Access Point Name / Network Name," and your AirPort's wireless security password would be the "Network Key" values.

Note: If not already, be sure to use a network name that does not include spaces or special characters. For example, if your network name is: This is my w??less net@ork, change it to: Thisismywirelessnetwork

Well, we solved the problem, I did try the "manual" wireless setup from the Getting Started guide several times. It seemed to take, but I was still without a wireless connection. The problem was that "Bonjour" was not turned on in the "Lan" setup, we found the setting, turned it on, and everything is now perfect.
