Q: Windows 10 wants to scan for errors

Every time i plug in my 6th gen ipod classic, windows 10 wants to scan it for errors. If i choose to scan, nothing seems to happen and itunes locks up, if i ignore the notification, iTunes again locks up. Regardless of what I do, iTunes locks up to the point where i cant force close. I cant even access the drive to right click and eject because My Computer and File Explorer locks up. Even the safely remove hardware option locks up. I have reinstalled itunes, i have rebooted several times and get the same result. Can anyone help me out.

The iPod's hard drive may be faulty, which is causing the problem you describe when attempts are made to access it. Since you cannot access the iPod normally (without causing the "lock up" problem), see if you can put the iPod into Disk Mode

Putting iPod into Disk Mode - Apple Support

If the iPod goes into Disk Mode, run iTunes and connect the iPod. If iTunes picks it up (and does not lock up), it may prompt you to do a Restore with a message about "Recovery." Let iTunes do the Restore. That may resolve the issue, if the cause was data corruption on hard drive and not a physical hardware problem.
