Jan 30, 2016 1:10 PM in response to rangasrilankaby gail from maine,Sorry, but there is no way around the Activation Lock. Only the person who signed into iCloud and activated the Lock by turning on Find My iPhone (or someone who knows their Apple ID and password) can remove it:
Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support
If you cannot contact someone who has this information and you cannot get a refund, then you are stuck with a very expensive paperweight. If your friend's mother got the device as a gift, then wouldn't she be the person you want to contact? (presuming it was a gift of a new device, and not one that the "foreign lady" had locked with an Activation Lock).
Best of luck,

Feb 1, 2016 10:52 AM in response to gail from maineby Mattost, hey gail,i got something to ask you. i bought an iphone in brazil last year.so when i bought my phone i asked the sales person to do all the configuration he needed because i was going on vacations. last night my phone died while updating and after that the phone wasnt working anymore so my son did something with the phone that brought it back to life. Now it wants an apple id and password that i don't have it,never had it actually because im new to the whole apple thing and didn't know about icloud and all this stuff. what should i do now? call apple support with my receipt so they can make it work again? or do i have another option?
thanks for helping everyone
ps : phone is from brazil (has ANATEL logo on the back)
ps2 : it wasnt from a apple store or premium store.
ps3 : im still under apple warranty until September.

Feb 1, 2016 2:32 PM in response to Mattostby gail from maine,Sorry, but you have no options in this situation except to have the previous owner (or someone who knows the Apple ID and password) to unlock the device. There is no way around the Activation Lock, and the only exception that Apple will make is if someone has the original receipt from the Apple Store or AASP that the device was originally purchased from (original owner).
If you are able to take it back to the store where you purchased it, then you might be able to get a refund from them. Otherwise, I'm afraid that you have a very expensive paperweight.
Very sorry

Feb 1, 2016 3:09 PM in response to gail from maineby Mattost,i have the receipt from the store and my credit card info (credit card that i used) isnt that enough to them? i cant go back to brazil right now just to fix this.
i tough that having proof of owning the phone was enough.

Feb 1, 2016 4:18 PM in response to Mattostby gail from maine,Since you didn't purchase it from an Apple Store or from an AASP, it was probably a 2nd-had device (as the unknown iCloud ID indicates). So, no, they will not do it in that situation. Again, it must be the original receipt - the receipt that the first person who ever purchased the device from Apple or from an AASP.
Again, sorry, but Apple won't remove the lock if that is the case.
Best of luck,

Mar 25, 2016 8:44 PM in response to babahashmiby gail from maine,What do you mean by "it refuses to activate"? What error are you getting?
What screen is displaying that is asking for the password? Does it look like this:
If so, do you recognize the email address it is asking for? Did you purchased this device new from an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller?
Cheers,

Apr 1, 2016 2:58 AM in response to Kara0321by behshad_r,Similar problem , anyone can help please?
Thanks
-
Apr 1, 2016 3:03 PM in response to behshad_rby gail from maine,No we cannot help you. You have not stated what your problem is - "similar" doesn't cut it. Also, there have been several posts with fixes and links. The topic is so generic, that there is no way to know what particular version of "Lost iCloud email and password" you might be referring to.
So, explain exactly what your issue is, what you have done to try to fix it, and what issues your are continuing to encounter.
Cheers,
