Q: sync iphone to itunes

I'm having trouble transferring iTunes music to my iPhone 5. Many of the songs I manually move to the iPhone don't end up on it, while a lot of songs that I didn't move do. Basically, my iPhone has its own taste in music.

I also get an "iPhone failed to sync" error message.

Can anybody help me with this?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.2.1
