Feb 3, 2016 5:16 AM in response to Linc Davisby jbemler,In Recovery mode, I tried to connect. It asked for password, I put it in, then it said "cannot connect to network. Try moving closer..." I know it's more than close enough (the network name has 5 full bars present on the drop down menu).

Feb 3, 2016 7:13 AM in response to jbemlerby Linc Davis,How long have you had this computer? Has it ever connected to a Wi-Fi network? Do you have a phone that can create a mobile hotspot, and if so, can the Mac connect to that?

Feb 3, 2016 8:32 AM in response to jbemlerby Linc Davis,1. If any USB 3 storage devices are connected, please disconnect them and test.
2. If you have an AT&T "UVerse" modem/router, please change the network name and reset the network password.

Feb 3, 2016 6:17 PM in response to Linc Davisby jbemler,I've had the computer for several months and it still hooks up to the wifi from my cable internet that we were switching away from (won't cancel it until I can get it on the UVerse), so I know its wifi is functional.
I don't have any USB 3 devices connected.
I changed the network name and passwords as per the instructions.
Same problems I click on the network name, put in the password, and I get the "can't connect to ..." error message.
