Q: Black screen on startup and shutdown

I've got a brand new 2015 iMac with 1 TB Fusion drive. Did a restore from Time Machine but also did a clean install. Now my mac will not startup or shutdown properly. It just goes to a black screen with the cursor arrow. I can boot into safe mode and recovery mode (where I ran first aid with no problems).
