Q: No output to Displayport

I am using my 2015 13" MacBook Pro (running 10.11.3) with two external monitors. One connected via the full-size HDMI port and the other one connected via a mini-Displayport to (full-size) Displayport cable. There is an issue where after I disconnect the external monitors to use the internal display, the Displayport monitor does not get any input after I reconnect the MacBook to the external displays.

The steps to recreate the problem are as follows:

     1. MacBook is closed and in sleep mode.

     2. I come to the office, plug in power, my two external monitors, and my USB keyboard and mouse. MacBook stays closed.

     3. I wake up the MacBook from the USB keyboard. Both monitors are detected and receive output from the MacBook.

     4. I work. Time passes.

     5. I disconnect all cables, move to a different location and use the MacBook as a laptop with the internal display.

     6. I close the MacBook again, let it go to sleep.

     7. I reconnect the MacBook to power, externals, and USB keyboard and mouse.

     8. I wake the MacBook from the USB keyboard.

     9. The HDMI display is recognized and shows the login screen. The Displayport is not recognized and does not get any input from the MacBook.

Typically, both displays work again after I quit for the day and come back the next day. I have checked that the cables are working properly and the monitor is working properly as well.

Both monitors are Benq GW2765.
