If you computer is not on the list, you cannot run it. https://support.apple.com/kb/SP728?locale=en_US That is not to say you cannot still upgrade your operating system. In about this mac, go to more info and then under hardware identifier. look at model identifier For 2,1 or higher. You may only be able to upgrade to Lion.
