Feb 4, 2016 1:03 PM in response to retailnlby ChitlinsCC,confusing Product statements:
- powerbook pro (title & 1st sentence)
- Mac Pro (Product Info from your Bio page)
A "Macbook Pro" is a portable. A "Mac Pro" is a desktop. If you need help in determining your Mac model > How to find your Mac's model and age?
Using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support
Why not tell us what is happening, in detail?
Tell us a Story
- with a beginning, a middle and end. We need to understand everything that you know and have experienced.
If this issue is new, tell us what immediately preceded its onset - add software, upgrade or update? New equipment?
Quoted from  Apple's "How to write a good question"
To help other members answer your question, give as many details as you can.
- Include your product (device) name and specs such as processor speed, memory, and storage capacity. Please do not include your Serial Number, IMEI, MEID, or other personal information.
- Provide the version numbers of your operating system and relevant applications, for example "OS X 10.4.11" or "Safari 4.1.3".
- Describe the problem, and include any details about what seems to cause it.
- List any troubleshooting steps you've already tried, or temporary fixes you've discovered.

Feb 4, 2016 1:37 PM in response to retailnlby ChitlinsCC,There is no such animal as a "Powerbook Pro" - Mac Pro & Macbook Pro, yes
is THIS your Mac?
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i7-2.4- 15-late-2011-unibody-thunderbolt-specs.h…
I repeat... what is your Mac doing that leads you to believe that random testing is better than describing what is happening to us?

Feb 4, 2016 1:49 PM in response to ChitlinsCCby retailnl,Yes it is.
The problems i sometimes have are not always the same.
Sometimes i have crashes. with games like Wow.. that i don't have with my other macbook.
Also sometimes it has a hard time starting up.. and it takes more time than usually.
Than i also have had problems installing the MacOs system software.. because i wanted to be sure it was not a software problem.
Thats why i reinstalled my system 3x now.
I did read there was a way to startup with the system test.. it is G if im correct. Anyway.. when i tried that my system stopped and hated..
To make a long story short.. I have the system now for about 6 weeks and tried loads of stuff. .but i have a feeling there is something wrong.. I have guaranty from the company i bought it.. but i want to be sure that there is something wrong.. and its not me.
Thnx for your time

Feb 4, 2016 5:52 PM in response to retailnlby Allan Jones,its a Powerbook Pro 2. 2.4ghz. Core i7 Late 2011.
You have a MacBook Pro. All PowerBooks were discontinued in early 2006 when their market slot was replaced by the Mac Book Pro.

Feb 4, 2016 6:04 PM in response to Allan Jonesby ChitlinsCC,Howdy Amigo... OP iz sleepin' (NL in username?) - best I can tell = a pre-owned MBPro as he agrees "Yes it is." to my link http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i7-2.4- 15-late-2011-unibody-thunderbolt-specs.h…
Methinks tired and the middle of the night in earlier postings. Miscommunication is in the English as not the 1st language.
EtreCheck shall be the peek under the kimono.

Feb 4, 2016 6:10 PM in response to Allan Jonesby Allan Jones,Now i would like to test the internal memory and the memory of my videocards. Is there a good way to test it? In the past there where official test programs from apple. But now it seems to be not around.
That's Apple Hardware Test and it's today called Apple Diagnostics. If your MacBook Pro came with install/restore DVDs, find them. If not, the test is built in. Please see this article on how to run the hardware test regardless of when your computer was made:
Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support
As its name implies, AD or AHT only checks for hardware issues, not software problems. Etrecheck that CCC has already cited is better for spotting potential software issues.

Feb 4, 2016 6:15 PM in response to Allan Jonesby ChitlinsCC,almost first in order from HT link...
...
- Important: If your Mac was released after June 2013, you will use Apple Diagnostics rather than Apple Hardware Test (AHT). See Using Apple Diagnostics for instructions.

that was posted before the MacModel had been admitted to.
Methinks the article was never read
