Q: Service Mail in Mac OS X SERVER - EL CAPITAN

In Mac Os X Server for El Capitan is still possible to obtain automatic copy of all mail?

Until version 10.6 there was a voice in mail settings “Copy all mail to: “…

I want automatic copy of all messages that are received and sent through service Mail of Mac Os X Server.

I want all copies of the messages from and to all accounts, being saved in one account chosen by me...

So I'll obtain an archive of all messages (in and out).

Many thanks for answer and ideas...

Best regards.

You can still do this, but will have to use Terminal and the command line:

sudo serveradmin settings mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = yes
    sudo serveradmin settings mail:imap:postmaster_address = "myaddress@mydomain.tld"

You will of course need to use the actual email address you'd like to bcc to.

    Dear pterobyte,

many thanks for your answer, but when I type the first line (sudo serveradmin settings mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = yes) Terminal answer to me with:

    mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = no

Is it correct? Why there is still "= no" in Terminal's answer?

Waiting for your new message, best regards!

Ah, good old serveradmin got stuck again ;-) Unfortunately this still happens in 2016.

You'll need to do some config file editing...

Edit (using terminal or a text editor):

    /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/main.cf

and remove the line that starts with:

    always_bcc =

(it is probably at the very bottom).

Then try the serveradmin commands again. If it still doesn't work, you can manually change it to

    always_bcc = yes

I would however try with serveradmin again first. This is important to keep your configuration in sync and avoid things being overwritten.

No line present with      always_bc =

    in main.cf

I have used vim to add the line:

    always_bcc = yes

    Now the command

sudo serveradmin settings mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = yes

seems to work. After few seconds, Terminal answer

    mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = yes

BUT IF I SEND A MAIL FROM A CLIENT CONNECTED TO THE OS X SERVER, NO COPY OF THIS MAIL GOES AUTOMATICALLY TO THE ADRESS I HAVE WROTE IN LINE

    sudo serveradmin settings mail:imap:postmaster_address = "myaddress@mydomain.tld"

I WANT A COPY OF THE MAIL OUTGOING THROUGH THE MAC OS X SERVER.

    HELP! MANY THANKS!!!

Sorry, my bad. Once you mix serveradmin commands and manual editing things get messy and I forgot a step.

    Try this:

    serveradmin settings mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = no

    serveradmin settings mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = myaddress@mydomain.tld

    Now it should show

    mail:postfix:always_bcc_enabled = yes

    and also work.

    Wonderful! You are great!

Many thanks and ... a new problem to solve!

Same machine, same Mac Os X server.

    File Sharing...

I have created a folder and it is now public both for SMB and AFP.

From others Mac with El Capitan is all OK .

But on Mac with OS X 10.6.8 it is possible to reach server only with SMB and not with AFP.

Server appears in the column at the left of all windows in Finder, but in case of click on its image no connection is possible.

Also menu "Go->connection to server..." works only with smb://ipaddress and not with afp://ipaddress.

The AFP protocol of Mac Os X Server in El Capitan is not more compatible with OS X 10.6.8???

The folder on server is with guest access (and everybody can read & write).

I hope in your great help!!!

    See you later!

Sorry... I now note that also on Mac with El Capitan it's possible to reach folder on Server ONLY with SMB and not with AFP.

But I hace checked also AFP in the preferences...

It seems to be a problem with Firewall.

If I stop it on Server, AFP is available on others Mac.

How can I use Firewall on Server, together AFP?

Glad you got the BCC problem sorted.

You should create new thread for your File Sharing / Firewall issues as this is completely unrelated to your mail problem.

    You are right!

Many thanks and HAVE A GOOD DAY!

With this settings of Firewall, AFP is OK:
