Q: why are my missed calls showing on another iphone

When I receive calls the missed calls show on my wife's iphone.  We both use Iphone 5S's and we use the same apple ID for icloud and purchases.  But of course the numbers are different.  Also the phones are on 2 different phone accounts.

Why are these two phones sharing the call log?

Thanks in advance.

I do know that it is not secure or convenient having my contact and credit card information stored 7 times one for each seperate apple ID.

As I already explained, and you chose to ignore, with Family Sharing ONLY ONE ACCOUNT HAS A CREDIT CARD ATTACHED. The other accounts in the family share plan use that credit card for purchases.

But, as I see your mind is made up, I will no longer confuse you with facts. You're on your own; use your phones any way you want to, and live with the consequences.

also familysharing says it will allow 5 additional family member, how is that a solution when more than 5 members are required?

    Clearly not made for you.

What do you want to try next?

I Know there is no toggle for call history , that's the bug, it would resolve many peoples issue,  especially those on here that are indeed individuals with several devices, meaning no other family member or iCloud account  involved and thus do not need familyshare or such.

It would only be a bug if it's unintentional on Apple's part. There's no clear evidence that is the case. Therefore, one of  the only reason Apple would have to change the way it works is if a sufficiently large number of people made that request. Even then, Apple might do as Apple is known to do and keep on with the way they think is best.

my reply posted before I read your explanation of how the credit card is link inked to only one account , fair enough, but still having to admin 7 separate iCloud acconts and passwords etc. Just to properly set up familyshare ( which I think is actually impossible because family share only allows 5 users) is a huge headache,  especially when adding simple toggle functions to items undesired to share would solve all the issues.

im confused by your response here csound1, The consensus by many here is that Apple has this all figured out and by properly configuring family share is the proper resolution to the issue, but with 7 devices familyshare can not be the solution as it only allows 5 devices. Now my only option is to do what has been  repeatedly been  ill advised , and have several devices sharing the same iCloud account.

Which part of "Clearly not made for you" is giving you trouble?

I'll choose my own assumptions rather than the 'consensus'

Fair  enough Meg st._Clair , may not be a programming  "Bug",  but it would be fair to say it's a design flaw.

Incorrect, it allows 5 users, not devices.

Not that it needs to matter to you, but, I disagree. I think it's quite a logical design choice. It works for me. Yes, yes, people say but why couldn't it be user selectable. Well, if everything were user selectable, the interface would be a mess. That's just not the way Apple does things.  It's also a choice that tends to force people in the direction Apple seems to want them to go.... not sharing Apple IDs.

Advised or not, I seem to have stopped the call history from being shared on my devices that share the same iCloud. Thanks to those that recommended the work around by removing all other emails except the default email from the settings in iCloud on each device,  As well as toggling off cellular data usage for the phone app. I've been sharing AppleID and or iCloud accounts on my many devices for years with never any "security" issues, I don't expect security issues in the future either. Keep in mind I don't use any iCloud features except "find my iPhone" so the work around may not be good for everyone's needs.  I'll be glad to update if it ceases to work or anything changes.

yes I meant 5 Users, If you have 6 or more users familyshare won't accommodate as far as I know.
