Q: Family share cannot figure it out....

SO there are four of us on family share. My thought was we would be sharing music. Wow what a confusing mess. I have a 50.00 Apple iTunes on my account... I can't even use it. So has two others in the family. Number two isn't there a way to use our own acct to rent movies? Without having to use my daughters credit card? So I can use my gift card that is on my iTunes acct?  Sharing is great but not when I cannot have control of what I rent ... We are all adults .please fix this ...so far we have gotten so frustrated no one is renting movies or buying anything.... I see its potential with kids but adults should flexibility of using own money ....losing money is a sad thing ....I guess I will not spend my 50 dollars it will just sit there.... I won't have to buy another one either . I have current software update on all devices . Phone, iPad and computer.

iPad Air, iOS 9.2.1

With family sharing, you are sharing more than just music.  To answer some of your questions, while the organizer (your daughter)'s credit card is the only one that can be charged (so whatever you have cardio card wise is irrelevant while in family sharing), any iTunes credit (gift cards) you add to your account are only for your account and will be used first before charing your daughter's credit card.  So if you have $50 in iTunes credit and you purchase something that is $59.99, your daughter's card will be used for $9.99.  Also, your daughter has control over who over anyone under 18 with an "Ask to Buy" feature.  if you are 18 or over according your your birthday on appleid.com, then you have full range to charge away.  of course your daughter would;t be too happy if you rang up her card.  At the end of the day, I would suggest the organizer only add people they trust (actual family) and that you in your situation just purchase gift cards at the store to keep from utilizing her credit card.
