Providing that you have got a PowerPC Mac, the latest OS X version you can install is Leopard (10.5.8). As it is a very old OS X version, Apple no longer sells it, so you will have to look for it on the Internet.

Turn your computer on and go to the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen, click on it and then click on "About this Mac," if it says anything about a PowerPC G5, then Mac OS 10.5.8 (Lepoard) is the highest you can go, like mende1 mentioned. However if it mentions an Intel Core Duo or Intel Core 2 Duo than you are able to upgrade to 10.6.8 which does have the App Store, however I am not sure how many apps will support your computer. Please check your computer specs and let us know if you are still confused.

    Cheers,
