Q: Beats studio wireless keeps disconnecting

I got the beats studio wireless 2.0 for Christmas and so once I listen to music on my iPhone 6 with Bluetooth on and when I want to change a song, it sudden diconnects every time. It also just doesn't happen on the music app, even when I watch videos like on YouTub. So I want to know if there is anyway to fix this issue so I don't keep turning the headphones on and off. Plus I have run iOS 9.2

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

HI Jmera25, when trying to update from the beats website it still uses the beats updater installed on the computer to check for updates and install it, I take it this was the first time you tried to check for updates? you probably have a headset which is able to pull the update, trouble for most even when we try it says it is up to date on 1.1.12 and we are stuck at this point so we can't get it to work.

izaackim - really weird you are reporting to have the issue even after updating successfully to 2.1.8, this is the first report that I know of that the 2.1.8 update hasn't cured it, everybody else who has updated it has fixed it, give apple support a call and report it to them, the more reports and information they have will help them get to the bottom of the issue.

PT-1005 - I'm really happy the IOS 9.2.1 updated fixed your issue, a little surprised as I tried it all on my devices and it still hasn't fixed it for any of them.

I think Apple still need to get on to this issue as its all over the place and obviously not right!

    Cheers All

Same here.  Studio wireless 2 states that I'm up to date 1.1.2, and iOS 9.2.1 on iPhone 6s.  Drops connection every couple of songs.  Frankly, this starting to pis me off. I own $400 headphones, the top of the line smart phone $800, all in in apple's ecosystem, subscribed to Apple Music, own an Apple TV,$100, iPad $400, MacBook Pro $1,800, , apple Watch $800.....and I can't listen to 3 consecutive songs.  ***.  That's all I have to say.   You hear me Tim? No? That's because you're using beats and apple devices.  They don't work!

This made me laugh, but also mad at Apple at the same time. My Beats actually got worst, I was at the gym and I could simply not skip with the button or the built-in skip button, and it would work normally ("normally"....)

But yesterday my music decided to stop working randomly for no reason, sometimes when I was changing the volume.

Apple please fix this. I wouldn't even care if this was some $60 piece of garbage, but they're $400 for the love of god they should work...

Same problem with Beats Studio Wireless, bluetooth disconnects while playing music. Doesn't matter whether connected to iphone6 or ipad air, same thing happens. Very frustrated --- these are not cheap headphones!!

    Hi Guys,

AS you guys know, I have been trying to stay on top of this as much as possible to make sense of it all since Apple don't seem to be doing a great deal!

Anyway, I've been doing more tests of my own as I still haven't yet had an update from Tech support.

Well.......! it looks as though they have put a fix in the latest (IOS 9.3) to fix whatever was causing it in IOS 9.2/9.2.1 the only thing is 9.3 is not yet available until at least another few weeks, but not all at a loss, you can still get a hold of 9.3 if you sign up for the public beta and install the profile.

I have been running it for a couple of days now and I haven't had any further disconnections even when I have tried my hardest to get them to drop, also just to note even though it is a beta I haven't discovered any bugs so I'd say it's all good to try wish to and of even so you can always roll it back to 9.2/9.2.1

dont worry too even if you install the 9.3 public beta you will still get the final release of 9.3 once it is available and it will overwrite the 9.3 beta release.

So if you want to give 9.3 a test just sign up for it using your Apple ID here: Apple Beta Software Program

make ake sure you take a full backup before, select 'enroll your device' just follow the instructions, really simple to do!

give me a shout if you get stuck.

Let me know how you get on with 9.3 and the beats, any reports will be very useful should we need it to report back to apple.

    Jason.

    hi there,

I do not think it has anything to do with the paired device, it has to do with the Wireless Beats themselves. I am pairing the Studio wireless with my Nexus 6P device and I am experiencing the same issues. it is also paired with my iPad mini 3 which is running the latest firmware and behaves the same way. I tried to update the device but unfortunately it says it is up to date (1.1.2). despite the fact that I purchased my device in April last year but have been using it with the cable most of the times when using the laptop.

    Hi Omarlkh

I'm not sure if you have read the whole thread but it is a probe with the beats headset your right, but it was fixed in a firmware update to 2.1.8 and the trouble is majority of the headsets which where manufactured before 2014 won't pull the update and see it being up to date on 1.1.12, they are apparently looking in to it but how long this will take I'm not sure, for Apple devices it seemed to have only been an issue since the 9.2/9.2.1 IOS update and for those who could update their beats to 2.1.8 it is ok however I found the 9.3 IOS update which is not yet released but can be obtained by signing up for the public beta, it has a fix but obviously this is only Apple devices.

Hopefully they will also release an update for the beats headsets themselves soon.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Thanks Jason for updating this post !

I have the same issue. Beats Studio Wireless bought in August 2014 in Shanghai's Apple Store during a trip. When I want to update my headphones on Beats's website (Yourbeats or something like that), I am up to date with the firmware 1.1something and not with 2.1something...

Hope you'll have some feedback from the Apple techs for 9.3 and 2.something for 2014's manufactured headphones...

Go on speaking with us haha !

    Adrien

    Hi Adrien,

    you are very welcome!

you are not going to believe this but despite all the information I have provided to Apple regarding this issue and then supposedly following this post, they have just come back to me this morning with the following:

Advisors and customers are reporting successfully resolving the issue by un-pairing and forgetting the headphones from the iOS device, then re-pairing them.

Please can you give this a try and let me know if it works.

I'm just estonished that they are now asking me to perform basic troubleshooting steps which is on their website, its as though they have completely disregarded all the information I have given to them from the outset, I have pretty much done stuff they should be doing regarding the research and they have Coke back with this, I'm appalled with the level of support regarding this case considering in the last my experience has always left me coming away happy, that being problems with my iPhone, Mac or Apple Watch. I just didnt expect this from Apple.

Anyway on another note, I have been doing tests of my own and just as well, I have been running IOS 9.3 on my phone for a few weeks now and the outcome is good as it appears to contain a permanent fix for the beats disconnecting issue for beats running firmware 1.1.12, I don't believe that this is something Apple have done purposely to fix out issue directly, I think it was an issue which they had caused in 9.2 with something related and they have fixed this and it so happens to have fixed the beats wireless issue at the same time.

I Believe 9.3 will be released very soon but if you can wait that long you can sign up for the public beta and install it that way, if you read further back on this thread you will find my instructions and further information on how to do this.

    I hope this helps!

    thanks,

    Jason

Thanks for staying on it, Jason.

I'm downloading 9.3 beta now - I've been making due with my 1.1.2 beats by simply scrubbing the track to the end when I want to skip, but my headphones also disconnect when I change the volume which is really annoying.

    Cheers

    Hello Jason !

Yes it's really weird such a response from Apple ! Yesterday I even reset my beats ! And it still don't work sadly...

I saw a YouTube video today, a new beta from 9.3 just came out, and the youtuber said that the official release of 9.3 is gong to be in the next few weeks..

Right now I don't wanna update to the beta just to have my headphones fixed.

You're right about 9.2 ! It was a kinda great update, but it implemented sooo many bugs with it..

Hope 9.3 will fix other bugs too.. (And I also hope that iOS 10 will not bring other bugs haha)

The other thing I hope is that the 2.something update will come out for EVERY beats and not just some of them...

    Thanks again Jason !

    Regards

    - Adrien

I'm having the exact same issue Jason. I have Beats Studio wireless, purchased in 2014. Updater says the firmware is up to date (not sure what version I'm on, but it says firmware is up to date). Don't know how to check what version I'm on.

I have iPhone 6S Plus on 9.2.1 and nearly every time I change tracks or change the volume, the Beats disconnect. Only option is to turn off the Beats and turn on again. If I don't change the track or volume and just let it play, Beats will stay connected. Used to work fine on my previous iPhone with older iOS. So it must be a 9.2 issue.

I have seen a lot of people say that this has been resolved by a firmware update, but like you, my Beats are already up to date on the firmware (apparently!).

Would love to get this resolved, as it's pointless having wireless headphones that keep losing connection.

Please let me know if a solution is found.

    Thanks mate,

    Abs

*Edit* Just seen your comment about 9.3 Beta, so will give that a try and report back with the outcome...

    Keep fighting the good fight!
