Q: iPhone 6+ iOS 9.2.1 and the stock Reminders app sound issue

Hello everyone and good day,

I started within about a week of this question of having a issue with the notification sounds on my iPhone 6+. As you can tell by the title of the question, I am using the stock Reminders app that comes with the device and have the latest firmware on the phone.

The issue is that I set a sound for my notifications in the sounds section of the phone. I am using the stock sounds provided by Apple and not any custom sounds. Everything will seem to be OK and then within a day or two, the reminder will go off visually but there will be no sound!

I go back into the sound settings and tap on that sound and no sound. I can choose any other sound and I can hear it but go back to the one I had originally selected and no sound.

I can select another sound and it will work for a little bit. This varies from just a few hours to a day and then the same issue occurs again! No sound!

I go back into the sounds settings to check and not only does the original sound not work but the one I had selected before the phone did this issue is no longer playing! Two sounds now don't work!

If I do a hard reset, the sounds that were muted will once again work. This is very frustrating especially because I depend on my device to tell me when I'm supposed to do things like take my meds on time for example.

I don't at the moment have any other issues with sound notifications with other apps, just the Reminders app.

Does anyone have a clue on why this is occuring? Is this a bug that Apple needs to be aware of and fix?

Because to be honest, this issue is really starting to annoy me.

    Hello there, un4givn72.

It sounds like you're having a notification sound issues with just the Reminders application on your iPhone. At this point you may want to try restoring your iPhone from a backup. The following Knowledge Base article outlines the options for restoring available:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup

Some additional information is provided here that may help you decide which backup option is best for you:

About backups in iCloud and iTunes

Once you've restored your device, see if the behavior persists. If you still see the issue with sound and your Reminder application, that indicates it's an issue with your backup and you will need to restore the device as new and then re-add content you need, such as applications, Mail and the like.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

    Get your device ready

    1. Check that you have the latest version of iTunes on your Mac or PC.
    2. If you want to save the information on your device, make a backup.
    3. Go to Settings > iCloud. Turn off Find My iPhone.

Restore your device to factory settings

    1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
    2. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your computer with the cable that came with your device.
    3. If a message asks for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer, follow the onscreen steps. If you forgot your passcode, get help.
    4. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod when it appears in iTunes.
    5. In the Summary panel, click Restore [device].
In the summary panel in iTunes, click Restore iPhone
    6. Click Restore again to confirm. Then iTunes erases your device and installs the latest iOS or iPod software.
In iTunes, click Restore again to confirm.
    7. After your device restores to factory settings, it restarts. Now you can set it up as new.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

    Kind Regards.

    Hello,

Was this answer the best you can think of? I would expect this kind of trash answer from the android folks or from a Windows forum!

My phone was not having any issues until the latest update.

All other functions work as they should but notification sounds!

Does not matter if they are stock sounds or custom ones!!

NO I WILL NOT RESTORE THE DEVICE!! All that does is waste my time and will end up back where I started from.

An device that doesn't work correctly!

Apple needs to fix fix this problem and not come up with a crap fix such as oh just restore your device.

That fix is nonsense and pure bull***t!

Rebooting this phone is getting ******* old!!!
