You have made an excellent point. We have 4 iphones,3 ipads, 2 mac minis  and other apple products in our household. I have been involved with other teachers in introducing ipads to pupils.. I have always taken a keen interest in Apple’s new gadgets and I did not mind paying the extra for an excellent product. For me now the apple has lost its shine and I will be looking elsewhere for the top of the range products. For me and many others “Error 53,” has damaged the apple image.

You are entitled to your own decision on what to buy. Android and Windows devices turned me off after their many security breaches. But good luck with your decision and farewell from this thread. Thanks for your input.

    Cheers

You are lucky for this time.

But you won't be so happy next time if it happens after the warranty expires.

    ^

Obviously they will swap the device outside of your warranty... They can't just brick your phone for NO reason.

Other people who had a 3rd party work on their device: NOW you're asking Apple for help? But not when you had problems at first, then you went for the cheap solution?

Well if u want extra warranty jus have to pay for apple care which is like for 2 yrs and whatever preference u choose.. Besides no one wants an outdated phone after dat warranty is up is jus to upgrade to someting better. Nothing lasts for ever all dem devices etc is jus for a while so the manufactures always making its money.

I recently replaced a complete iPhone 6 display assembly including a new Home Button assembly and got "Error 53".

I have put back the original Home Button assembly onto the new display assembly but I can't get rid of "Error 53".

    1) Should I be able to recover the phone from Error 53 by putting the original Home Button assembly back assuming there is nothing damaged elsewhere?

    2) Has anyone got evidence that replacing the Home Button is NOT the only root cause for Error 53 but that replacing the screen assembly can also be another root cause for Error 53?

    3) Has anyone got evidence that replacing the Home Button is NOT the only root cause for Error 53 but that replacing the long Home Cable running behind the LCD can also be another root cause for Error 53?

Details: It is already well established that such error is generated when the motherboard can't match the Touch ID number stored in an IC mounted onto the Home Button assembly flex. It is obvious such matching fails if the original Home Button assembly is replaced or if the flex running behind the LCD and connecting the Home Button assembly to the motherboard is damaged. I don't think there is anything damaged in the iPhone. A number of sources (this, or this) on the Internet report that replacing the Home Button is NOT the only root cause for Error 53 and that replacing the screen assembly can also be another root cause for Error 53. Moreover, other sources (cf. "Replacing the cable will cause the Touch ID sensor to stop working") report that replacing the long Home Cable running behind the LCD can also be another root cause for Error 53; how can this be true if the long Home Cable does not have any IC storing an ID number?

Read this article. It should shed some light on your questions:

Thank you. To recover from Error 53 this article says "replace the new TouchID processor with the old one. (People say they have successfully done this.)"

I replaced back the original Home Button assembly onto the new display assembly but I can't get rid of "Error 53".

Has anyone got evidence that, once Error 53 has been set due to the assembly of an unpaired Touch ID button, putting back the original button recovers the phone from such error?

This is a very well written article but sadly it does not justify Apples position from a legal position. Software users have rights under law and in my opinion these have been violated by this action

Your opinion is irrelevant. The only opinion that matters is the one handed down by a court of law. If you believe your opinion is valid get a lawyer and take it to court.
