Q: very slow itunes movies

I have a 64GB 4th generation Apple TV, hard wired & all iTunes movies or tv shows have a very slow download. All other apps are OK.

Is there any way to fix?

    Hello geoffreyfromlandsdale,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that movies and TV shows from iTunes are not downloading as quickly as you expect. To begin troubleshooting this situation, I recommend reading over and working through the suggested steps in the following article.

Thanks for suggestion but that was the first thing I did. I hard wired the internet connection & changed from HD to SD as that had been suggest in other sites. When I play netflix by wifi on a smart TV , no problems. When I play 7plus, Tenplay , Stan or any other app through the Apple TV , no problems.

The only problem is streaming movies or tv shows from iTunes. At times it says days a 7 hours till ready to play or more.  I have had to leave & try again next day or so. It may come down to 3 minutes till ready & then go back to a few hours. There have been a couple of times when it has only been 20 minutes or less. The slow play seems to be a common occurrence by the number of people on youtube & many other sites on the internet stating the same or similar.

A pity as I was hoping I could watch a movie or 2 with friends but there is no set time frame when they can be watched. I had hopes that because it is Apple they would have fixed things by the 4th generation

I guess it is just a dud service & a waste of money buying the device to watch latest release movies etc.

Would be nice though to have it working reasonably.

Those other services adapt to the connection. iTunes is fixed rate, higher quality, and needs to load a portion before playback begins. What is your current connection via speedtest.net ? Is this occuring at specific times? Ensure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network). Make sure router is up to date. How old is the router? Test on another network
