INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE when trying to buy anything

Hello everyone,

I ran into the INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE problem today. I solved it by choosing "best try" for OCSP and CRL in the certificate tab of the preferences dialog of keychain access - it was set to "needed, if the certificate demands it" (or something similar - I am using the German localization).

It may be that I had changed this setting some years ago and that this setting was still there after updating to 10.6. But I am not sure if the new setting (best try) is secure - so would please anyone who can use the MAS successfully check what setting he/she has in the above mentioned dialog?

Thanks,

Dirk

This worked great!

So here is the path: Open the application "Keychain Access"

Then go to the menu "Keychain Access" select "Prefrences"

Click on the button "Certificates"

Select the drop down box "Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP)" change to "Best Attempt"

Select the drop down box "Certificate Revocation List (CRL" change to "Best Attempt"

Thanks again Dirk!

Hello All

I've tried this approach (verifying best-attempt cert access) as well as removing the appstore/* folder in /var and still cannot download Xcode. Platform is Lion. Message is 'product file may be damaged or unsigned' are there any new fixes out there?

Strangely, this sollution worked for me, but in an unexpected way. I was trying to download a copy of Mountain Lion (having already successfully Moutain Lion) in order to make a recovery drive. App Store kept returning this error. My fix was to change the info in Keychain Access from "Best Attempt" to "Require if Certificate Indicates."

I am getting this error: INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE

I am running a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 4Gb of Ram and OS 10.7.5 and can't upgrade to El Cap. I tried what Dirk said, resetting the Keychain Certificate preferences to 'Best Attempt' but this does not work. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

OKay, so here's what ended up working for me: I went into the Ap Store and looked in my 'Purchased' history. It allowed me to reinstall the system I was currently running: for me it was Mavericks. After reinstalling the system it allowed me to upgrade to El Capitan. All is well and it's working.
