What port number(s) does my Mac use when checking to see if any updates are available for my HP LaserJetPro P1102w printer?

I don't have the specific port number, but here's a list of all the ports Apple uses:

As far as I can see HP do not provide Mac drivers themselves for this printer and therefore the drivers you would use are the HP drivers provided by Apple on behalf of HP.

Apple use their own 'Software Update' facility to both update the Mac operating system and more specifically to also provide HP printer drivers and any updates to the HP printer drivers. Apple's Software Update facility runs as a standard web service using ports 80 and 443.

Full details are available here - OS X: Server addresses used by Software Update  - Apple Support

Should it be of help the direct manual download for Apple's HP printer drivers is here - HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X

Note: The Mac App Store is not the same thing as Software Update service even though these days the same App Store application is now used to access both.

The reason I asked this question is because every time I switch on my Mac computer, the following warning message from Norton Security appears: “An unknown service (port 51100) is starting on your Mac”. The following options are then available:

    1) Allow all connections to this service.

    2) Allow local network connections.

    3) Deny all connections to this service.

    4) Don't change firewall settings.

On 15 March 2014, Community member 370 responded to a similar question, as follows: “If you've recently installed the software drivers for an HP P1102w or similar printer, you've added IP port 51100 into your Mac OSX computer.  This is so for 10.9.2”.
