Q: ipod classic was disconnected during sync.plays songs currently on it but not recognized by itunes. is there a way to factory reset without using itunes
My IPOD classic was disconnected during sync. It plays songs currently on it, but is not being recognized by iTunes (even on a new computer). Is there a way to factory reset it without using iTunes.

You have to use iTunes to do a Restore ("factory reset").
If you have not already, restart the computer. Do this to Reset (restart) the iPod

Run iTunes and try connecting the iPod again. If that does not help, put the iPod into Disk Mode

Connect to computer running iTunes. If iTunes picks it up, it may prompt you to do a Restore with a message about "Recovery." Tell iTunes to proceed with the Restore.
