Q: Help with transferring Aperture library to new iMac.

I just bought a new iMac 27" 5k and I want to bring over my Aperture library from my old Macbook Pro. I realize Aperture is no longer supported by Apple, so I will be using a different program going forward. But, I do want to transfer my pictures now to my new computer. Can anyone help with this? I backed up my laptop to an external hard drive using time machine. Once I plug the hard drive into my new iMac what do I do? When I open up time machine on my new iMac it asked me to pick a disk to use as a back up. I do not want to erase my external drive as it has all of my pictures. What am I supposed to do? How do I get my Aperture library onto my new iMac?

My library is about 500 GB.

TO use your library you have to restore it using Time Machine - for TM help see these or post in the OS forum for your OS - Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support -- http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
