Feb 15, 2016 9:14 PM in response to jcbandttzby Cunnla,From the picture it seems to be low on power. Eject it from your computer and try charging it up fully using the power adapter. Then try iTunes again.

Feb 15, 2016 9:38 PM in response to jcbandttzby Cunnla,Have you tried resetting ?
To reset iPod classic:
- 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
- 2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. (from iPod Classic manual)
You can get more info here on restoring it and other troubleshooting. https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/0/MA630/en_US/iPod_classic_120GB_en.pdf

Feb 16, 2016 7:58 PM in response to turingtest2by jcbandttz,Hiya,
Thanks for this. Unfortunately, all that works is the reset function. Once the apple logo appears no other function works. I tried disc mode and diagnostic mode. I have also tried to format the disc through file explorer but it just freezes!!! Then after 5 to 10 minutes I get a pop-up box that tells me to insert a disc into the drive!!!!
Any other option would be greatly appreciated.

Feb 17, 2016 3:03 AM in response to jcbandttzby turingtest2,I suspect the drive has failed then. You could try this: http://joshhighland.com/2006/03/29/fix-your-ipod-by-spanking-it/ or you could look into options for replacing the drive.
