Feb 16, 2016 4:04 AM in response to Mutley63by SunOfRa78,Are you sure the "new" motherboard is all ok?
Try putting it into DFU mode: Plug it into your computer. Hold down the power and select buttons together for 12 seconds. There will need to be some charge in the battery. See if the computer recognises it then.

Feb 17, 2016 3:41 AM in response to Mutley63by Kenichi Watanabe,★HelpfulThe iPod's onboard software is on the iPod's hard drive. If there was nothing wrong with the hard drive, and you put it back, it should work. You should confirm the connector between the iPod's logic board and hard drive is connected properly, and is not damaged.
If the iPod does not show the Apple logo on its screen when it powers up, try doing a Reset (restart)

If it goes into Disk Mode, run iTunes on your computer and connect iPod. If iTunes picks it up, iTunes may prompt you to do a Restore with a message about "recovery." If you're OK with erasing the iPod's hard drive, tell iTunes to proceed with Restore.
