Q: Resonant noise coming from new Mac Pro

Hello everyone!

I just recently picked up a late 2013 6 core mac pro. I previously owned a mac Mini 4 core i7 model that was whisper quiet. I hooked up all my cables similarly to the way I had with my mac Mini. Now, the issue is,  when im downloading with a download accelerator or transferring files back and forth between my server, I can hear a resonant frequency sound coming from my new Mac Pro. This only happens when im connected by ethernet. If i disable ethernet and use wifi, this noise is no longer audible! Is this a common issue!? Would my new Mac Pro already have problems!?

Thanks in advance

RE: noises reported in Mac Pro late 2013.

There was an early report of a noise referred to as "Coil Whine", put out by the power supply under certain conditions.

Those who could demonstrate the problem got their power supplies replaced under warranty.

Of course, those who did nothing and waited for the next software release to fix the problem got nothing except maybe a headache.

If this is a NEW Mac Pro, return to the original Vendor ASAP. If you bought from Apple in the US, you can get the unit replaced with 14 days of receipt -- from the Genius Bar or you local Apple Authorized Service Provider.

If other, it becomes a repair problem.
