Q: Able to send but not receive email in POP account

This is my GoDaddy web mail POP account All of a sudden, I get the error message that my account login is not recognized. This only effects receiving mail. I can send mail with no problem. I tried with GoDaddy support but they couldn't figure it out, it's not a server problem on their end.

This is my business account and Iim getting desperate

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I'm having the same issues as well. I called GoDaddy tech support. They tell that they have been getting lots of calls over this the last couple of days. I was told that there is an issue with El Captain security and that mac mail no longer supports POP. The solution was to create a new Mac Mail account with IMAP, and just hang to the other POP account for research.

I also found that some people have unchecked the "Automatically detect and maintain account settings" under the Advanced section of the mail preferences for the pop email.  Save the changes when you close out the Mail preferences, and everything should be fine.

I have not tried this yet, as I always have been using IMAP and Windows and Andriod. But all of my Co-Workers are using Mac's.

I ended up letting GoDaddy upsell me to an IMAP account (POP was free, IMAP is $100 a year or so). I've lost a lot of old emails, but the problem seems to be at least temporarily fixed. At one point, I had a GoDaddy support chat and an Apple support chat going at the same time. If chat windows had fingers, they would have been pointing at each other. I am planning to find an alternative and close the GoDaddy account while I can still get some money back from them.

See the post above, simply clicked off the check box next to "Automatically detect and maintain account settings" and all my missing emails magically appeared!
